چکیده

Salmonella infections occur worldwide in both developed and developing countries and are a major contributor to morbidity and economic costs. The contamination of food products with Salmonella generates serious health and economic consequences, which have stimulated numerous studies designed to investigate the survival capacity and the transmission routes of these organisms in different farm animals and the environment (Sow et al, 2000, Winfield et al., 2003). Salmonella is found worldwide in both cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals, and in the environment. They cause illnesses such as typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and food poisoning. Salmonella infections are zoonotic and can be transferred between humans and other animals. Many infections are due to ingestion of contaminated food (Ryan 2004). Salmonella can colonize and cause disease in a variety of animals. Within this genus, more than 2,500 serovars have been ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 3 Number 6 (2014) pp. 347-353 http://www.ijcmas.com

Molecular Detection of Salmonella Serovar Isolated from Eggs

Abstract Background and Objective: Salmonellosis is the most common type of food poisoning in developed and developing countries that is caused by Salmonella serotype. Hence, we aimed to identify the Salmonella serovars in eggs obtained from Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad province and to evaluate antibiotic resistance of the isolated strains. Material and Methods: In this study, 210 eggs were co...

Molecular identification of Salmonella Infantis isolated from backyard chickens and detection of their resistance genes by PCR

This study aims at molecular identification of Salmonella Infantis isolated from backyard chickens and the detection of their antibiotic resistance genes. A total of 46 Salmonella-suspected samples isolated from backyard chickens of northern Iran were collected. Serotyping was done by the traditional method and then confirmed by PCR. Antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates against 13 antim...

Detection of Salmonella spp. from some wild captive herbivores in Iran and determination of serogroup, antibiotic susceptibility and presence of invA gene in the isolated strains

Salmonella spp. are zoonotic enteric bacteria able to infect humans, livestock and wildlife. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Salmonella (spp.) and to determine antibiotic susceptibility, serogrouping and presence of invA gene (Salmonella Invasion Gene A) in the detected strains in wild captive herbivores in Iran. The fecal samples of 103 animals from 8 different speci...
